A 12-Week Hands-on Journey to Learn the Art of Video Editing

⁣An artist is not just someone who paints with his hands physically. In this digital age, an artist is also someone who creates digitally.⁣ ⁣⁣Sri Aurobindo says music, art and poetry are a perfect education for the soul ☀️⁣

We will hold a collective aspiration to:

🌼 Powerfully Communicate Through Visual Storytelling: Learn tools and principles to leverage the power of video to inspire others into conscious action - communicating a message clearly, precisely and with impact. 🪔

🌼 Create High-Quality Aesthetic Videos: Learn principles of good video design. With personalised feedback, cultivate your sense of beauty and aesthetic.

🌼 Grow Within - Video Editing as a Sadhana: Sadhana is not just in meditation, but also in action and work. The Video Artists community is a space to bring beauty and perfection to life, to create videos with a soul and in that process connect deeper to ourselves.

  • Surya Ravishankaran

Head Designer and Editor, Purnam Centre for Integrality

Three years ago, I quit my job in the corporate world in pursuit of an inner calling. I came to Auroville to participate in Purnam's Swadharma course and ended up joining Purnam. At Purnam, I experienced exponential growth and transformation within and without through different roles and responsibilities be it content writing, graphic design, video editing, managing teams, organisation and facilitating groups. Learning through action at Purnam and doing work as service has shown me the joy of Karmayoga.
Bringing beauty, perfection and communicating a message powerfully with inspiration is something that gives me a deep joy. I have always been in love with technology as well as art. Video editing gave me a doorway to marry these two passions to create art digitally. Through editing I have grown in my sense of harmony and aesthetic while also learning how to be clear, precise and impactful. Videos with a soul have the power to move and inspire people to take conscious and purposeful action. If this is something that call you to, join us 😊
  • Chaitanya Bonthapally

Founder & Facilitator at MirraKi, Video Artists Mentor and Volunteer at Purnam

My journey of following my inner calling began with getting an opportunity to do a transformative flagship course of Purnam, Swadharma 9.0. After the course, I enrolled myself in volunteering for editing videos for Purnam under the guidance of Surya. I am immensely grateful to have got an opportunity to work on the videos for Purnam, as it was not just about learning the soft skill, but also a journey of going deep within & connecting with the works of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother, and also gently taming the perfectionist ego so that I could learn to create anything without getting attached to the outcome and the work.

It is through working on the editing videos on Canva and iMovie, I could learn Canva, which has changed my life completely. Canva has given my soul value (Beauty & Aesthetics) and Soul Force (Perfection) a ground to express, learn and progress.
  • Raghav Sharma

Video Artists Mentor and Volunteer at Purnam

Hi, I am Raghav 🙋🏻‍♂️ - a data engineer by profession and a volunteer at Purnam. I have been sensing my calling towards spirituality since the last 3 years and am always trying to dwell over it.

I always cherish creativity and a visual mode of learning & representations. My biggest learnings and answers to my questions regarding spirituality have come while I was editing videos and I have often achieved a sense of perfection thereafter. Moreover, the technical learning aspects that I have been able to touch upon have truly helped me grow as a seeker.
  • Akruti Bhawsar

Video Artists Mentor and Volunteer at Purnam

My journey with Purnam started through Savitri Painting. I belong to the Arts background felt myself lagging behind in technology. As for my interest in photography and editing pictures, motivated me to step up and volunteer for video editing and content creation for constant learning, growth and progress of oneself. To work for Purnam is being in touch with the divine presence within.
Testimonials About Video Artists Sangha
Spirituality is not just about Wisdom and Compassion, but also about Beauty and Work. Surya is one of the rare individuals who understand and lives this. To him, Video editing is a deep Sadhana of bringing beauty, Divine beauty, love and harmony to life, with great perfection and the spirit of service. How to create magic with videos, to create from a deep inner space and to touch deeply.

There are video courses that teach you to "create to sell", but here you have a course that also teaches you to "create to powerfully touch" - touch hearts and move energy into action of love, service and creativity.
Divyanshi Chugh
Co-Founder, Purnam Centre for Integrality, Auroville
I worked with Surya for our flagship programme's promotion video production and I am more than happy to recommend him for his professionalism. He was very patient in helping us understand the nuances of our very first video production, edited and stitched all the pieces into one coherent story not just in content but also in the form it is presented. ⁣
He also trained one of our team members to edit videos in a short period. Over all, I am very happy with the professionalism, friendliness and expertise he brings to the work! Having seen Surya work on our project and also train our team member, I highly recommend his lab on video editing!
